DJ Chicken's Sister Appeals to Seyi Tinubu for Mercy After Content Creator's Remand
The family of Nigerian content creator Ademola Abiodun, popularly known as DJ Chicken, has appealed for mercy following his remand at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre in Lagos. His elder sister made an emotional plea to Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, asking him to forgive her brother and help secure his release.
DJ Chicken landed in legal trouble after videos circulated online in which he allegedly made threatening remarks against Seyi Tinubu during a livestream. The comments quickly drew widespread attention on social media and eventually prompted law enforcement authorities to investigate the matter. Following the investigation, he was charged before a Lagos Magistrate's Court over allegations bordering on threats to life and related offences.
On July 10, the court ordered that the content creator be remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre pending further proceedings in the case. He is expected to remain in custody until his next court appearance as the legal process continues.
In a video that has since gone viral, DJ Chicken's sister appealed directly to Seyi Tinubu, asking him to pardon her brother and consider the pain the situation has caused the family. She expressed hope that compassion would prevail and that the matter could be resolved without prolonging his stay in prison.
The case has continued to generate mixed reactions online. While some Nigerians believe DJ Chicken should be held accountable for his alleged actions, others have called for leniency, arguing that the incident should serve as a lesson rather than lead to prolonged incarceration.
As of the time of publication, Seyi Tinubu has not publicly responded to the family's appeal, while the legal proceedings against DJ Chicken remain ongoing.
Should public figures forgive individuals who later apologise for alleged threats, or should such cases be allowed to run their full course in court regardless of public appeals?
