Reason Behind Man Utd’s Delay in Greenwood Announcement Revealed

Mason Greenwood was charged in October, but the Crown Prosecution Service dismissed the allegations in February. While Manchester United conducts its own internal inquiry, Greenwood has been on administrative leave.

Contrary to supporters’ expectations that a decision would have been made by now, the club has delayed any official announcement. Reports suggest that United is still in discussions with sponsors, football staff, and even the women’s squad before finalizing their decision.

This comes after a recent briefing from manager Erik ten Hag, who did not mention Greenwood. Instead, he focused on the team’s season opener against Wolves and commented on Harry Kane’s potential transfer to Bayern Munich, describing it as a “miss for the Premier League.” Ten Hag also highlighted the team’s preseason preparation and readiness for the competitive season ahead.

The delay follows The Sun publishing photos of Greenwood appearing relaxed while training on a public pitch. His father and coach, Andrew Greenwood, was present during the session, offering guidance. This marked Greenwood’s first training since his arrest. Notably, he has grown his hair out and no longer wears Nike boots, following the termination of their sponsorship deal.
